  • When a person drinks six to seven alcoholic drinks, vomiting can occur, except in the case of the person that has developed a tolerance to alcohol; the person may get drowsy and could display emotional instability, and impairment of perception, memory, and comprehension.
  • Risks for alcoholism is not destiny; proof of this is that many children of alcoholic parents have not developed alcoholism, and many people with no family history have become alcohol dependent.
  • Women have less water in their bodies than men, so after a man and woman of the same weight drink the same amount of alcohol, the woman's blood alcohol concentration will tend to be higher.
  • "Social use" of alcohol consists of an occasional drink in the company of friends: a glass of champagne at a wedding, a cold beer after a softball game, or a glass of fine wine with a meal; social drinking has not been shown to kill brain cells, nor is there any research that indicates that occasionally having an alcoholic beverage adversely affects any major body organ.
